Melody Smith has been the premier portrait photographer in Virginia since 2004. Working to perfect her style and technique over the last 20 years, her images can be seen practically everywhere. From promoting Jack and Melissa of 103.7 on billboards down I-95, to boudoir images in portfolio boxes hidden under mattresses across the state.

Melody placed Gold in the 2014 WPPI annual print competition, while bringing home the 2nd place win in the Premiere category. Her work has also been featured in Max Brenner's 'Chocolate by the bald man' nestled inside of Las Vegas' Illustrious Ceasar's palace.
MELODY SMITH
Melody is an international award winning double master photographer located in Petersburg, Virginia. For the last 30 years Melody has been photographing men, women, and children from all over the world. Not only is Melody a photographer, but also a hair stylist and make up artist.
Until 2012, Melody photographed primarily weddings. After shooting over 300 nuptials she decided to focus on her true passion and superpower: photographing women of all ages.
Melody knows what it is like to look in the mirror and not see your own beauty reflected back at you. After years of being bullied and struggling with self image, Melody found her own self confidence by empowering beauty in other women.
Melody currently lives in Prince George County with her husband, Mike, her teenage son, Perrin, and their beloved oriental siamese, Mr. Tumnus.
Her first official studio opened in 2005 as Twilight Images. From 2005-2012 Melody's studio work was influenced by Old Hollywood, Pin Up, and the Masters. In 2012, Melody Smith Portrait was launched with a new contemporary magazine style while still incorporating her love of fine art through couture sessions.
MADISON WELLINGTON
Madison is the studio manager and assistant for Melody Smith Portrait. As a 2021 VCU graduate, she holds a bachelor of fine arts in English.
Not only does she hold the fort down for all client communication, billing, and scheduling, she films and edits all of the behind the scenes videos for the studio.
In 2014, while searching for a photographer to help create a modeling portfolio, Madison found and booked her first portrait session with Melody. One of the photographs from this session would go on to win 2nd Place in Teenager for WPPI's Annual International Print Competition. From there, she would continue to work with Melody as her photographer until 2017, when Melody offered her a position as her studio assistant.
For the last 6 years, Madison has devoted herself to the entire client experience. She believes in the entire transformation process. As a once shy young girl, she knows how it feels to be unsure and lack confidence. Her passion is helping Melody create a space where clients can discover their own inner beauty and finally see it reflected back at them in gorgeous photographs.
She currently lives in Colonial Heights, Virginia with her oriental hairless cat, Ezma.
